I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a new mom, still navigating the weight of losing my sister, or just in a different season of life… or all of the above? But lately, I’ve had a hard time finding clothes I REALLY love. The costs that come with having a young baby (or kids in general I guess) make me feel like I can’t justify buying much for myself unless it feels worth it and I’m obsessed with it.
That being said, in the summer I usually default to shorts (I rounded up my favorites here), but recently I found a couple pairs of pants that I genuinely love… and honestly they feel like all I need. Especially in Chicago, where summer isn't always that warm, a great pair of lightweight pants is ideal.
This one’s short and sweet, but here are the ones I’ve been living in:

These from J.Crew are a recent new favorite of mine. What’s interesting though is that I bought them (same size, Medium Tall) in pink, and in white. The pink was see-through and the white was not. So I’m not sure how to get around that, but I loved both. I did return the pink because they were too sheer, but the white will be a summer staple for me. I’d say size down.
The Donni taffeta pants are everywhere right now, and I kind of hate that there’s a waitlist. In fact, that makes me less inclined to want them because everybody has them. But these from Chan Luu were a rec from my friend Hannah. I pulled the trigger and LOVE them. Sadly, I returned because I felt like the fabric wasn’t practical with a young baby (who also projectile vomited yesterday all over everything I was wearing). So back they went, but they’re great. And I didn’t find the inseam too short on my 5’11 frame. I got a 3 and they fit like a large, maybe slightly snug.
Rails has had a full-on glow up I guess? They invited me into their Chicago store to pop around during their grand opening and I found a few pieces that I loved and bought. I was pleasantly surprised! I also ended up ordering these in a large (less expensive here) and more sizes here. They’re lightweight, breathable, and so flattering. I’ve been looking for a drawstring denim but haven’t loved any I’ve tried! They’re breezy enough for summer. An A+ in my book.
Lastly, I got these from J.Crew a few weeks ago and they’re another staple for me. Easy to wear, but they definitely are a mid-rise. I tend to prefer a high-rise but was surprised by how much I liked these and feel like they’re well priced. I got a Medium Tall, size down!
In love and linen (lol),
